Who the M2 is for

The M2 G87 is a sharp car in a usable size. At Masons, guests take it when they want M character without limousine bulk — short B-roads, evening Prague, a weekend without excess width. Four seats are more of a safety net: you drive as two, and the boot will take a weekend bag. It is not a car for representation in front of a hotel. It is a car you want to drive yourself, without a chauffeur and without feeling the city is too small for you. If you like to sit low and work for a corner, this is the compact that still fits a Prague garage you would not offer an M8.

If you hesitate between the M2 and the larger Ms, ask a different question: do you want to turn, or to arrive? The M3 and M5 will take guests and the motorway. The M2 will take a line and a size you can work with in Prague. The engine is dense, the chassis talks, the steering does not forgive laziness. If you want a quiet limousine with an M badge, this is not it. If you want a compact coupé for one proper day, it fits. Take the specific specification and availability from the car card in the fleet. Badges do not drive. Seats, width and the road you actually have this weekend do.

The M2 is not a car for five people and skis. Nor is it a car for a first-ever drive in a sports car if city clutches and tight garages already stress you. It makes sense for a driver who wants rear-axle character and can still go at city pace. Masons prepares the car between rentals; your job is to pick it by the stage, not by a brochure photograph. For an Alpine marathon take a gran turismo instead. For the Brdy and Karlštejn the M2 is enough, and there is still joy left. Joy is the point of this size. Exhaustion is what you get when you ask a compact M to pretend it is a quiet express for four.

How it drives in Prague

In town you can work with the M2; on the D1 and out of Prague it is fast and sure. Outward vision is decent for a coupé, width is felt in historic lanes, but less than in an M8 or a G63. The low seat wants calm descents into garages. Tram tracks and cobbles are not a race stage — city pace, not sport mode. If you drive in the evening, bridges and the embankment suit the M2. If you drive at noon through the centre, you will brake more than you accelerate. That is Prague, not the car. Fighting Prague is how you miss what the car is for. Accepting Prague is how the first empty B-road later feels earned.

Parking will decide whether the evening is pleasant. A guarded garage, a hotel stand, a space with margin for the doors. The M2 is compact, but it is still a wide coupé with a low sill. Kerbs in the centre collect wheels. Better to walk than to squeeze the car into a yard that belongs to a van. Between rentals we check tyres and wheels precisely because Prague can be cruel to a sports car. You do not help that work by trying “it will still fit”. It will still fit until it does not, and the sound of a rim is a poor souvenir of a street you could have skipped.

Always check the daily kilometre limit and the deposit on the car in the fleet — a blog does not watch the seasonal list. The M2 tempts a longer motorway stage because it is fast and sure. Count the kilometres ahead. A half day at Karlštejn plus the city is a different account from a weekend in south Bohemia. Deal with fuel before evening Prague begins. A sports car at night on reserve in the centre is pointless stress. Masons will prepare the car; you watch range from the card, not from a feeling. Feeling is optimistic at sunset. The card is not, which is why it is the one to believe.

Where to take it from Prague

For a half day, Karlštejn or the Brdy is enough. A short stage, a warm-up, a view, a return. The M2 is built for that: enough character for a B-road, enough size that the way out of the city does not tire you. Do not drive it as a stopwatch. Cyclists, bikes, local traffic. The Brdy reward throttle and a line, not a late brake. Karlštejn rewards leaving the car where you will come back, and walking to the castle. A sports coupé at the gate is not a trophy. It is a worry. Walk. The car will still be the story on the road back, which is the only place that story belongs.

For a weekend, Český Krumlov or Karlovy Vary — leave margin for fuel and the evening return. The M2 can do the motorway, but it is still a compact coupé, not a quiet express. Swap the wheel. At the destination park off the tightest streets. Krumlov and the spa towns are slow; the car should be at rest, not in a photograph in the middle of a crowd. If you want more motorway comfort, reach for the M5. If you want more presence, the G63. The M2 is about driving. Driving is a poor spectator sport. If the plan is to be looked at, pick a different shape. If the plan is to look at the road, stay here.

Evening Prague as a stage on its own makes sense in the M2. Bridges, the embankment, a quiet return to the garage. You do not need to collect pins on a map. One clean drive through a city you know can be the whole experience. An open roof does this differently — that is the SL. The M2 is a coupé the city can carry if you can carry the pace. Pick a window outside the peak. We arrange delivery across Prague case by case, so you do not start the evening on Jižní spojka. Starting on Jižní spojka is how a compact M becomes a hot, bored companion before the first bridge is even lit.

How to book the M2 at Masons

Pick the date in the Masons fleet, or write via Contact. We usually confirm quickly in business hours. In season the compact M fills, because it makes sense for more people than a supercar. Do not leave the booking for Friday afternoon if you want the car on Saturday morning. Deposit, daily kilometres and fuel rules are on the car card. The magazine does not change them and does not promise a number that will not hold tomorrow. A promised number is how blogs go stale. A card that can move is how a hire house stays honest, even when the honest answer is that this weekend is already taken.

Tell us whether you are doing the city, the Brdy, or the motorway. We can advise whether the M2 is the right choice, or whether you will be better in an M3, an M4 or a quiet gran turismo. That is not an upsell. It is an attempt not to let you spend the first hour fighting a car you wanted in a photograph. We will prepare the car between rentals. Do not let a wrong choice of size eat the stage. Size is not a slight. It is the difference between a weekend you drive and a weekend you manage, and managing is what you were trying to leave behind in Prague.

When the date is free, start with BMW M2 G87 in the Masons fleet. There you will see live rates, the deposit and the kilometres. A review should say who the car is for and how it lives in Prague. The numbers belong on the card; the link leads here, not into a paragraph. When you sit behind the wheel, a line should remain, not an argument about a price list. If you came for a tariff, you came to the wrong page. If you came to decide whether this compact M is your day, you are in the right place, and the card will finish the rest.
