When the weekend should stay in memory
The R8 V10 is about sound and presence. It is taken for an event, a shoot, or a weekend that should stay in memory. At Masons it is not an everyday tool for shopping. It is a supercar that makes sense when you know why you want it. Low, wide, a different seat from an M sedan. If you want comfort for four hundred kilometres with suitcases, there is a gran turismo in the fleet. If you want a gesture and an engine that talks, the R8 fits. Talking is the V10's job. Shopping is not. If your weekend cannot tell those two apart, this car will tell you anyway, usually in a car park that was never designed for it.
It is not a car for five people, for winter on a hill, for an underground garage without measuring the height. Nor is it a car for a first contact with a sports car if width and vision already stress you. It makes sense for a driver who wants an event and can still go at the pace Prague requires. Between rentals Masons will prepare a car that should still be a supercar after the previous weekend. Do not arrive with a plan that “it will somehow fit”. Somehow is how low cars meet ramps. Measurement is how they meet the road they were hired for, which is a much better meeting.
Against the M2 the R8 is another league of gesture. Against the M8 it is less about distance, more about sound. Against the Corvette it is a different tone, a different interior, different expectations. Do not choose from a poster. Say where you are going. An event out of town the R8 will carry. A pure centre in the peak will tire it. Deposit and conditions are on the card — on a supercar read them twice, not only at the keys. A low seat and width in the centre

The R8 can be in the city when you drive in the evening and know where. It can be a punishment when you hunt a stand and a descent. That is not the car failing. It is a badly chosen stage for a supercar. A badly chosen stage will still be loud. It will just be loud about the wrong things: kerbs, trams, a van that did not expect you to be this wide on a street this old.
Parking: measure height, measure the ramp, leave room for the doors. A guarded garage with a clear profile, not a historic cellar. Walk to dinner. The car at rest. The deposit is not admission to a scuffed sill. Between rentals we check wheels and chassis because Prague is cruel to low cars. Help by not trying a yard that belongs to a van. A van has a job on that yard. Your job is dinner and a drive that still feels like the reason you booked a V10, which will not happen if the first conversation of the night is with a height bar.

Out of town, with margin
Choose routes with margin — short loops from Prague, not a rushed all-day marathon. The Brdy, emptier B-roads, a place where the engine may speak without waking a housing estate. Karlštejn as a photograph yes, as a fight for parking no. Leave the car off the crush. A supercar at the gate is not required. The drive there and back is. There and back is a loop with a pause, not a parade. A parade needs an audience that did not buy a ticket. A loop needs fuel, patience, and a road that can take the noise you actually came for.
A weekend motorway the R8 will carry, but that is not its most natural sentence for four hundred kilometres. Pauses, fuel, your back, width on a rest stop. If the destination is far and comfort comes first, consider the M8 or the M5. If the destination is an event and sound, the R8 remains. At the destination, slow town and a sensible stand again. A historic lane and a wide car do not belong together. Together they make a story you will tell as a joke, and a deposit conversation that will not be funny, which is a poor trade for a street that had a pedestrian alternative.
Take weather seriously. Wet Prague, cobbles, low tyres. Pace down. It is not an embarrassment. It is how a supercar comes back whole. Masons will prepare the car. Wet cobbles are not an embarrassment of a slow pace. They are how the car comes back whole. A supercar is not a Friday-at-five impulse

It is matching a car to a plan. Prep between rentals on a supercar is careful, because the consequences are expensive. Your part is a stage that belongs to a low, wide car. Matching to a plan saves the deposit and leaves the sound where it belongs — outside the peak of the centre. Outside the peak, the engine can be the event. Inside it, the event is only traffic, and traffic does not need a V10.
